Today the Liberal Democrats have released what they hope will be a devastating new poster, featuring Ed Labour leader Ed Miliband as a banker’s lapdog.
It is quite frankly, rubbish.

Not only is it poor politics (banker bashing is, like, soooo 2009,) the poster looks horrible, like someone photoshopped it when they were bored for 5 minutes. Even if it had been designed well, I’m not sure the message will resonate.
People want solutions to their economic woes, not politicians playing blame game.
It’s a shame really, because the Fairer Tax campaign being run by the Lib Dems is an excellent one, highlighting one of the party’s greatest achievements in government. It should not be degraded by nonsense like this.
The other poster is far better. Although the design itself leaves a bit to be desired the message is exactly the type of thing the Liberal Democrats should be talking about and campaigning on.

FYI, the lapdog picture is on the other side of the van
Interesting to see Lord Ashcroft’s comments on the recent Tory poster depicting Miliband as a schoolboy:
“The facts are potentially powerful, but it is hard to see how this juvenile Photoshopping could do anything other than make ordinary voters roll their eyes in despair. … if I had recently donated funds to the Tories I would be asking what on earth CCHQ thought it was doing with my money.”
At least the image of Miliband as a schoolboy had a certain effectiveness. I don’t think Miliband as the bankers’ poodle has any.

I agree with you. What a trashy poster. I certainly wouldn’t use it in Focus. We’d be inundated with “dog cr*p” letters, quite apart from the fact that it has no immediate impact; you have to look at it for ages to work out the intended message.
Yes
The poster is silly and pointless. Ad hominem is not a natural LibDem tactic.
What makes it more galling is that this “lapdog” has just given the voters a much more attractive economic strategy, moved the Tories to the far right as he takes the unionist role, pulled the TUC in tow and has got his shadow Health Secretary to talk sensibly about our elephant in the room, the NHS.
I do agree with the above comments. Let us get the party to junk the lapdog poster NOW. This means we should write to all our Lib Dem MPs expressing our concern. It is so juvenile!!. The second poster is much better as it can be published without a comment on a FOCUS leaflet.
It speaks for itself!!
