Former MP Louise Mensch launches a fashion blog

Former Tory MP Louise Mensch wants to show a different side with new blog.

The former MP for Corby has announced that she is starting a fashion blog. Mensch was always considered a parliamentary glamour-puss, but says was “forced to confront my hideous lack of [style] shown by pictures when I was in politics”.

With that in mind, she has called the blog Unfashionista, and will run a second Twitter account of the same name, on which Mensch promises that there will be no politics will instead show “the more girly bit of me.”

The new blog can be found at https://louisemensch.jux.com/, and has the tagline “A Lazy Girl’s Guide to Gloss.”  The first post features the bane of many a female existence, high heeled shoes.

As someone who likes to at least make an attempt at looking nice, but who frankly can’t bear to spend much time on it, I rather like the concept. It’s frivolous, good natured fun making women feel good about themselves, and I’m all for it!

My only criticism is that if I were Mensch, I would have built on a more powerful platform like WordPress (which I love) and maybe if it catches on that’s what Unfashionista should convert over too. Advertising revenue awaits.

Blogging also seems a platform built for the opinionated and articulate Mensh, much more so than proprietary software like previous project Menschn. It is perfectly possible that the author and columnist will become as successful publishing digitally as she is on dead trees.
